Review

Ethan needed an escape from him home life, after taking a break from college and returning home to his parents, he hates seeing his father nightly, and it breaks his heart to watch his mother suffer from cancer, but he needs a job in order to return to school. Horror writer, Jacob Vincentia, was looking for a chef, but not just a chef, he needed someone that would respect his privacy and provide added security for his niece Ella, while living in his secluded lake house in the thick of the forest.

Ella Vincentia, hid from everyone, and had a safe house living with her uncle. Tough on the interior, yet with visible scars on the exterior, she pushed everyone away, until she met Ethan. She fought with him for awhile, until she started to see that maybe everyone isn’t the bad guy.

L.B. Dunbar is a fantastic storyteller and once again I really enjoyed the beautiful writing style. This story is it’s own and can be read as a standalone but some of the familiar characters from the first book do resurface a bit. The setting is dark and descriptive, and once again the author pulls in bits and pieces from fairy tales but puts a new twist on them. This book was a bit hotter than the last and I enjoyed every bit of it. The ending had me on pins and needles and held my attention every step of the way! I can’t wait to grab the next novel in the series.
