Life for Charlotte (Charlie) Harris couldn’t be any better at this moment in time. She has her dream job, she has the extremely wealthy knight in shining armour and she has the best friends a girl could ever ask for. On paper, the beautiful world unfolding at her feet almost appears too good to be true for a working class girl from Manchester right?
But what happens when you gloss over the statistics and realise that the happy bubble you have been living in for the past fifteen months has all been a twisted, torturous path of lies? What if you realised that the person you loved wasn’t who they claimed to be any longer?

With the once sacred and happy memories now turned into hatred and despair, Charlie must now follow her instincts to either forget her past and move on or force the hand that holds the cards to her life to reshuffle the deck before it leads onto the twisted future that lies in store.

What will she choose?

Can she forgive and forget for the only man her heart has ever loved?

Review

For a debut novel, this was very well written and precise. Beth does a great job with grabbing the reader’s attention right from the beginning. The story begins with Charlie (Charlotte) who is trying to make it into the fashion world and has to have a dead-end waitressing job just to pay her bills. One night, the mysterious and brooding, Callum, sits at her table and Charlie is so caught up just by looking at him. Of course, sparks fly and the two become an item. About a year later, Charlie and Callum are still together and everything seems great. Until, one secret surprise visit goes terribly wrong and Charlie’s world is thrown upside down.

I really liked Charlie in this book. At first, I thought she was a little conceited and superficial, especially with her shopping addiction, but her character grew the most in this story. She is independent, intelligent, hilarious, and super sexy. Her loyalty and dedication to her friends and to Callum is deniably affectionate and she always tried to do the right thing. When her life went to hell, I felt her pain and mourned for her. I’m also a fan of the secondary characters, Xavier, Lucy, and Amelia. All three were great and exceptional in the story. Lucy and Amelia are the two best friends and always had Charlie’s back, no matter what. I loved the way they comforted her during her “dark” times and I love Lucy for always wanting to beat the crap out of Callum. She’s a feisty one and I loved it! Xavier was my favorite out of the three. All he wanted was Charlie’s happiness and he was so kind and loving towards her. Hopefully, we’ll get to read more about Xavier. smiley

Then there’s Callum. Holy frijoles, this man is hot!!!!! I mean, he’s smart, sexy as hell, owns his own company, and is a rich Brit! How can you not fall for him? Let me just state that the sex scenes in this book were smokin!! Charlie and Callum know how to heat things up! Their love making is so pure and erotic…I think my iPad needed a cold shower! HEHE!! heart Overall, this was a great and captivating love story. Beth did a fantastic job and I’m so proud of her. I definitely recommend this book and I cannot wait to read what’s next!
